Description
Iridium (Ir) target material, atomic number 77, atomic weight 192.22, face centered cubic lattice, is a rare precious metal material. Iridium has a melting point of 2450 ℃ and a boiling point of 4130 ℃. It is water-soluble and insoluble in water. Its appearance is a shiny silver white metal with a Mohs hardness of 6.5. Iridium has stable chemical properties and can maintain good mechanical properties in atmospheric atmospheres above 1600 ℃. It also has excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures and can withstand corrosion from strong acids, bases, molten reagents, and high-temperature silicates. It is a known corrosion-resistant metal that can resist any acid attack. Although only certain molten salts and halogens can corrode solid iridium, fine iridium dust is more reactive and flammable.
